Utorrent being an ultimate torrent client gives the best to download anything.There are lot of utorrent tweaks and settings for both xp and vista which can make download faster,increase utorrent download speed and you can make most of your bandwidth.So Lets tweak utorrent.

This guide is for v1.8. Many tweaks works and for previous versions.

First download utorrent and install it.
Next visit this site (or this) and pick the city closest to yours and get your max upload speed. Now with that same number, (for eg. 300 kb/s) divide first by 8 (eg. 300/8 = 37.5) then take that number you just got and multiply it by .8 (eg. 37.5*.8 = 30) The final number you get is your Global Max Upload, which can be set in the Preferences section of Utorrent. Write down the results.
Alternative, you can go to Speed Guide in utorrent (is the easiest way) by pressing [Ctrl + G] or go to options>speed guide. There you will get a drop downbox . connection type, which lets you choose your closest connection speed. Then click Use Connection Settings. The maximum number and other settings will be automatically applied.

Now, if you have a router, you must open the port using for incoming connections (43542 for example.In this guide, i am using the 43542 port.).To make this, check this site and then select your router, and then Utorrent. Follow every step to forward your ports and allow greater access to better speeds for your torrents.

Some tweaks needed
Encrypting Network Data. Similarly some ISP’s try to limit the bandwidth to p2p applications. uTorrent have protocol encryption which makes detection and limiting by ISP’s harder.You can enable protocol encryption by going to Options > Preferences > Bittorrent. There is a section called as Protocol Encryption, choose Enabled or Force. This can speed up your bandwidth.

Removing the Connection Limit for XP and Vista. This is a patch for Tcpip to max the connections. For XP go here, for Vista check this post.

Speed tweak for Vista users. If you have vista, go to Options -> Preferences -> Advanced.
Under Advanced select ‘net.bind_ip’. Set this to the IP address of your computer.
Restart utorrent. This will definetly increase download speed and seeds also.


Here you have to make these changes too:
net.max_halfopen = *40 or 90 (depends for the values you set in TCPIP.SYS)
peer.lazy_bitfield = *true
peer.disconnect_inactive_interval = *600
